Proportion of flats under Married Child Priority Scheme cannot be increased, says MND

The Govt allots a substantial volume of flats– as much as one over three in regard to all-new flats in matured community– under the MCPS, disclosed the Ministry of National Development in Parliament on Tuesday 27Jul.

The ministry considers the emphasis regarding backing the needs regarding married youngsters plus parents that hope to settle with or alongside each other for respective supervision plus support.

” MCPS offers top priority to family groups securing latest HDB flats to settle with or near their parents or married youngsters. Underneath the Married Child Priority Scheme, 30% out of the new apartment amount in the mature neighbourhood is allocated for first-timer family units. With regard to second-timer family units, it’s Threepercent,” MND claimed.

Aside from MCPS, the Government has equally applied various plans intended for assisting in respective care and back up amongst family groups. All these consist of the Multi-Gen Priority Scheme, Senior Priority Scheme as well as 3Gen flats.

” Throughout our constrained flat number, we will also have to accommodate the lodging requirements out of some other groups of Singaporeans, such as first timer families with children with the Parenthood Priority Scheme, and even family groups with three or more children via the TCPS,” said MND.

” Consequently, we will be unfit to amplify the portion of flats alloted underneath the Married Child Priority Scheme at this juncture.”

On this, the ministry instructed apartment purchasers who plan to reside with or beside their father and mothers or youngsters to think about purchasing a resale flat, and get the Proximity Housing Grant of up to $30K.

The ministry drafted the sentence in reaction to MP Tin Pei Ling’s inquiry on if the volume based on apartments within MCPS could be expanded for BTO properties in matured community.
